Our Story
You can afford the college of your dreams, so we want you to dream big. We believe that all students should be able to go to the
college of their dreams without their families going bankrupt, changing their standard of living, or taking on ruinous debt. We
think everything you've been told about the process of applying to college first, and then finding the financing is wrong. Instead,
we'll turn that thinking on its head. We'll help you think about how to pay for college before actually applying to college.
What happens when you do that? First, you discover cost is no longer a barrier to going to college. Second, you realize you can
afford to go to a better school than you ever thought possible. And when you upgrade the kinds of schools you are considering,
you open up a world of educational choices. So you can pursue the right educational opportunities for the right reasons.
We want to make the world a better place. We want to ensure that young people get the education they need to take their rightful
places in society. For us that means enabling talented students of any background, and any means, to find the financing that will
help them attend the college of their choice. We want to level the college funding playing field. In the process, we'll provide
colleges with a greatly enhanced applicant pool of students whose families have a thorough understanding of their college funding
options.
For the past 18 years, our co-founder Dr. Paul Wrubel has provided college admissions and funding advice to over 4,000 families
around the globe. Along the way, he discovered the process of paying for college was needlessly mysterious. And incredibly
stressful. Considering that the college financial aid program is brought to you by the same folks behind the US Tax Code, that
shouldn't be surprising.
So Paul started advising families of all incomes how to fund the college education of their dreams. He demystified financial aid and
how to maximize your eligibility. He brought clarity to the differences between a Pell Grant, Perkins Loan, Stafford Loan and workstudy
programs. He helped parents navigate the thicket of acronyms like FAFSA, SAR and EFC. His advice helped parents make
intelligent decisions when it came time to fund a college education. And when their financial aid letters arrived, Paul helped parents
negotiate a larger aid amount.
For years Paul has been in demand by families seeking guidance on how to pay for college. The demand has become so great that
he can no longer provide the kind of service he wants to all who need it. To bring his insider's knowledge to the millions of families
who apply to college every year, Paul formed The College Company with Monisha Perkash. Their online tool, TuitionCoach,
combines Paul's expertise with easy-to-use technology to provide an online solution that brings greater transparency and
accessibility to the college funding process for all families.
